The next superpower that I want to talk about is that God is not only righteous Himself, but that He is able to make all of us righteous also.
There are 2 names for God in the Bible that fit this superpower.
Jehovah Tsidkenu, which means The Lord Our Righteousness.
Jehovah Mekoddishkem, The Lord Who Sanctifies You.
In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell safely;
Now this is His name by which He will be called:
THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Jeremiah 23:6 NKJV
“Speak also to the children of Israel, saying: ‘Surely My Sabbaths you shall keep, for it is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. Exodus 31:13 NKJV
And with that, we need a couple of definitions.
Righeousness means to be characterized by uprightness, to be morally right or justifiable.
To sanctify means to make holy, to set apart as sacred, to purify or free from sin, to render legitimate
We are not righteous on our own. On our own, without God, we are sinful and separate from God. We do not have a relationship with Him, nor will we spend eternity with Him in heaven. Nothing we can do will change that.
Then enters Jesus, the Son of God, who came to this earth and lived a perfect life, died our death to pay for our sins. He was sent here as God in the flesh to make things right between us and God.
After He died on the cross, He was buried. However, on the third day He arose from the dead, defeating death, hell, and the grave.
Now the only thing, we have to do, is truly believe in Him and confess it.
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10 NKJV
Once we have done this, He becomes our righteousness. We are at that point right with Him. We now have a relationship with Him and we will spend eternity with Him. He has scrubbed us clean and made us into a new creation.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV
Once we are saved, we are perfect in the eyes of God as far as being in right relationship with Him and our ticket to heaven paid for. Yet there are still things that need to be changed in our lives and that is usually not an overnight change. God has removed a couple of things from my life instantly, but it is usually a process. Though, He is our help to make those changes, because we cannot do it on our own.
However, we are considered righteous because of Him. We are not capable of being perfect enough to be righteous on our own. We do work towards being better out of love for Him, but He is our righteousness.
