It is so amazing how God loves that I would consider it a superpower.
The Bible says that He is love. It is the very essence of His being. He genuinely cares about everyone. He loves at all times. This is who He is 100% of the time
He is perfect in His love, even when we are not. He loves us with agape love, which is unconditional love. No matter what we have done, He still loves us. How amazing is that. We humans find it hard to fathom, because this kind of love is undeserved. But it is who He is.
And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them. 1 John 4:16 NIV https://my.bible.com/bible/111/1JN.4.16.NIV
Many might say that God doesn’t really love us, because there are so many bad things happening in the world. However, this world we live in is a fallen world and everyone is given free will to choose right from wrong. As humans, we miss the mark a lot. Even through all the bad choices and abhorrent behavior, God loves us still. Even when we were still sinners, God sent His only Son to pay the price for our imperfection. He did this by dying on the cross. Our sins are paid for. We only have to accept His free gift of forgiveness and salvation. He did all the heavy lifting, so that we could be reunited with Him, because He knew there was nothing that we could do to make up for all the wrong we have done. He still wants a relationship with us, even though we were against Him and have messed up royally. He loves us so much.
He comes after us and doesn’t give up on us. Even when it may not seem like it, God is still trying to get our attention. I know that when I was going though some of my lowest points and not living for God, I know He was still trying to get my attention. He didn’t give up until I paid attention. I can think of some occasions where God got me out of some really bad situations. It took me many of those moments for God to get my attention. But He did indeed finally get my attention and I am so grateful that He did. That He loves me that much. And even now, He is still working on me and there are times I have not listened. Yet He still gently guides me back to Him, when I get off the path. He isn’t abusive. He doesn’t beat me over the head. It is usually a gentle nudge in the right direction.
The way He loves is beyond words. There is no human that loves like God does 100% of the time. Most people give up on someone, if they don’t listen the first two or three times, but God doesn’t. He is continually reaching out to us to get our attention. He doesn’t want anyone to stray or be lost.
12 “What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? 13 And if he finds it, truly I tell you, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. 14 In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish. Matthew 18:12-14 NIV
16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16 NIV
9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10:9 NIV
