He is omniscient, knowing all things. There is nothing that happens that He doesn’t already know about. He isn’t surprised by anything that is happening or will happen. He knows all there is to know. There is nothing He does not know.
There are no surprises for Him. He already knows our thoughts and feelings. He knows what we are like on the inside, seeing past all the surface level stuff. He always knows exactly where we are in our walk with Him. He sees the progress we’ve made and the progress we haven’t made.
A related name of God is El Roi-The God who sees (Genesis 16:13). He sees me right were I am and knows me completely. He doesn’t just see my physical self sitting here. He also sees who I am at my core and who I am to Him. He sees my situation, but He also sees the outcome. He sees and knows every little detail about me and what is going on around me. He sees so much more than I can possible see with my human eyes.
This brings me comfort for a couple of reasons.
First, it means that He has all the answers. No human has all the answers, but God does. He knows what I need to do to solve the problem in the best possible way. I just need to listen and be obedient. He also knows what I am in need of and provides it all exactly when I need it. Never late.
Secondly, He sees everything about me and He still loves me. His love for me never changes. That is so amazing to me. To see all the mess and still love me and want me.
