The next writing prompt in “God Is My Happy Place” is
“What does it look like to consider yourself a citizen of heaven?”
I think I can best explain it by relating it to the movie “The Matrix” (1999). When I became a citizen of heaven (when I accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior), it was like being pulled out of the matrix. I then had to learn, and I am still learning, to have the mindset of Christ that I was given, which is so contrary to this world.
‘For who has known the mind and purposes of the Lord, so as to instruct Him? But we have the mind of Christ [to be guided by His thoughts and purposes].’ 1 Corinthians 2:16 https://my.bible.com/bible/1588/1CO.2.16 AMP
I was then sent out to tell others about Jesus.
‘Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.”’ Matthew 28:19-20 https://my.bible.com/bible/1588/MAT.28.19-20 AMP
The enemy (Satan) would like nothing more than to stop us from telling others. This is kind of like the agents that are always trying to stop those who are no longer in the matrix. There are those in the world who try to stop others from speaking about Jesus, whether it is through laws or threats. In some places in this world, doing so will result in death.
‘Indeed, all who delight in pursuing righteousness and are determined to live godly lives in Christ Jesus will be hunted and persecuted [because of their faith]. ‘ 2 Timothy 3:12 https://my.bible.com/bible/1588/2TI.3.12 AMP
As a citizen of heaven, I look forward to eternity. I do not fear death. I may not know every detail about heaven, but I know that is where I will see Jesus face to face and be in His presence for eternity. And that fills me with joy, comfort, love, confidence, and so much more.
‘and then I heard a loud voice from the throne, saying, “See! The tabernacle of God is among men, and He will live among them, and they will be His people, and God Himself will be with them [as their God,] and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be death; there will no longer be sorrow and anguish, or crying, or pain; for the former order of things has passed away.” And He who sits on the throne said, “Behold, I am making all things new.” Also He said, “Write, for these words are faithful and true [they are accurate, incorruptible, and trustworthy].” ‘ Revelation 21:3-5 https://my.bible.com/bible/1588/REV.21.3-5 AMP
‘There will no longer exist anything that is cursed [because sin and illness and death are gone]; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve and worship Him [with great awe and joy and loving devotion]; they will [be privileged to] see His face, and His name will be on their foreheads. And there will no longer be night; they have no need for lamplight or sunlight, because the Lord God will illumine them; and they will reign [as kings] forever and ever. ‘ Revelation 22:3-5 https://my.bible.com/bible/1588/REV.22.3-5 AMP
As a citizen of heaven, I am free to serve the Lord with all that I am. I mean really free. I am free to love. I am free to worship. I am free to do the right thing. I am free to follow God’s will. I am free pray.
‘So if the Son makes you free, then you are unquestionably free. ‘ John 8:36 https://my.bible.com/bible/1588/JHN.8.36 AMP
