Captain Marvel

I recently watched the movie Captain Marvel, which I enjoyed immensely. I highly recommend this movie, if you haven’t already seen it. And I wanted to share a quote with you, said by Carol Danvers.

“I’ve been fighting with one arm tied behind my back. What happens when I’m finally set free?”

In the movie, when she says this, she is throwing off all the past and all the lies. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it, but it is a powerful scene.

It reminds me of the following verses that talk about “throwing off everything that hinders.”

‘Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. ‘ Hebrews 12:1-2 https://my.bible.com/bible/111/HEB.12.1-2 NIV

I have been weighing myself down with so many things that hinder me. I have let go of a couple, such as food addiction & impulse spending. But there is more to go. As I let go of these things, I feel more free. I feel lighter. Almost like I could fly.

It got me to wondering about what happens when I’m totally set free. What happens when all the weight is gone? What happens when we’re debt free? I know God has great things in store. I do look forward to seeing what that is.

***Praise Report: I’m celebrating victory over food addiction/overeating for 188 days. God has removed 51.8 pounds from me. I’m celebrating recovery over impulse buying for 50 days***
