I was reading a good book this week.  “Girls With Swords” by Lisa Bevere. A quote really struck me.  “Jesus conquered death, hell, and the grave so that he could be one with us and we could be one with one another.”

God wants us, His people, unified.  Not separate.  Jesus prayed for all believers to be unified.

“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me.  I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one. I in them and you in me.  May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”  -John 17:20-23

Can you imagine, if you were baking a cake.  All the ingredients are set out on the counter, but they were never put together & mixed together to make one thing.  There would be no cake & therefore no deliciousness.

Well that is the same way with the body of Christ. When we don’t come together & we refuse to work together, then it is chaos & doesn’t work the way God intended it.  When we work together, it is beautiful and pleasing to God.
